Too Good for Drugs & A Peaceable Place for Grade 3 lays the groundwork for safe and drug-free living through a fun and interactive journey of setting reachable goals, communicating effectively, and making responsible decisions. This quick-paced prevention education curriculum focuses on developing students’ social skills and reinforces those skills through interactive, social activities.
This bundle of Too Good for Drugs and A Peaceable Place includes all three lesson units for Grade 3 including the core Self-efficacy and Interpersonal Skills Development Unit, Substance Use Prevention Unit, and Violence Prevention Unit in a single 15 lesson adaptation.
Students rocket to Really Planet with Junior Scientist Fredge as he manages his stress to finish his space drone on time and become an Ace Scientist. Then students take a journey inside the body with Careless Charlee and Her Magnificent Machine as they learn from her organs about the health risks of taking mysterious pills.
Additional activities include using effective communication skills to troubleshoot Otto‘s power failure, applying action poetry to learn and remember the steps to good decision making, and a card game to identify healthy friendships.
Students navigate the peaceable path to cooperative conflict resolution, differentiate bullying situations and teasing, and find useful quick reference strategies to keep calm when frustrated. Additional learning and development concepts include maintaining self-control, managing anger, resolving conflict, and managing bully situations.
In the lunchroom, Penny learns how to manage her anger and maintain self-control as other kids tease her and try to embarrass her. On the playground, Jessup, Mavis, Loretta, and Henry learn how bullying behavior affects everyone involved in a bully situation including the bully, the target, and the witnesses.
Daily Workouts, Home Workouts, and Cross-Curricular Activities follow each lesson so students can practice and apply the concepts developed in each lesson at home and with their peers.
This curriculum kit includes lesson activity materials for classrooms of up to 30 students.
