In Too Good for Violence – Social Perspectives Grade 6, students gain the insight and tools they need to become positive role models in their schools and communities. The skills promoted in this evidence-based prevention program boost students’ self-confidence and enhance their commitment to making healthy choices and reaching their goals on their journeys to live safe, healthy, and violence-free lives.
Students practice setting reachable goals, making responsible decisions, and communicating effectively with pro-social peers in fun, interactive games, activities, and role-play. They are encouraged to consider the consequences of their actions before making decisions to avoid negative consequences and study various scenarios and work together to think of alternative affirmative choices to produce positive outcomes.
Students share ways to identify and manage their emotions in healthy ways so they can stay calm and not become overwhelmed by them. Sixth graders discuss the role of reporting bullying situations for the benefit and safety of everyone involved and practice peaceful methods to manage bullying situations in a healthy way for the bully, the target, and the witnesses.
Home Workouts and cross-curricular activities follow each lesson so students can practice and apply the concepts developed in each lesson at home and with their peers.
